Poverty Point. November special!

Last weekend we went on a homeschool field trip to a historic site called Poverty Point.
Poverty Point dates back to about 2100 BC - 1100 BC, the equivalent of American Aztec but before the time of King Tut.

( We stayed from Friday night to Sunday morning.)

We stayed in a longhouse (As I called it, it was long.) there was a boys dorm and a girls dorm, and then some private rooms for adults.
First, at Friday night, we went on a astronomy hike.
I saw the Big Dipper and The Milky Way and Jupiter.
It was amazing!
Your'e ecstatic to see ONE star in New York City!
(end of Friday)

Saturday morning we had pancakes for breakfast, Then we went to see a video at the P.P. Museum.

After that we went on a archeological dig, in a deep sandbox.
I'm not saying it wasn't hard, it was. Our tribe ( The blue panthers)
Found:
2 arrowheads,
2 atlatl (Spear) weights
1 axehead
2 Fishing net weights
1 cleaning tool
1 deer skull.

Then we went on a edible plants hike.

After that we threw Atlatls and played the ancient game, La Cross.

La crosse was used to settle arguments among tribes instead of war.

We went on a night prowl to go Spider sniffing ( Yes, I said spider sniffing.)
It's when you go into deep woods, put the flashlight on your forehead and the spiders eyes reflect back like moving glitter on the ground.
( End of saturday)

In the morning we cleaned up the dorms and packed the car up.

Happy Spider sniffing!,
Jackson

Hello Acorn Lads!
Yesterday me and my Dad went on a photography walk around the neighborhood.

Welcome To the Garden District Walk, A Fall Special:

Like The Bold/Italic entry?
Anyway,
Me: ROLL THE PICTRUES!!
Blogger: ON IT!!!

Sorry, I'm having trouble with getting my pics where I want them to go.
Go to the top of the post before I say "Acorn Lads" to see all the pictures.

Love,
Jackson

P.S

The first thing that comes to mind when you first enter the Garden District is "Beautiful".
The Flowers, The houses, But, the most beautiful, is the trees.

Their branches reach over the streets and touch each other, like a tunnel of trees.

It's a wonderful neighborhood.
I really like it for It's Beauty and It's vibe.

100%
Raise your hand if you've read the Percy Jackson series by the same author!

It's the new generation of Demigods!
Jason, who doesn't remember anything before waking up in the back of a school bus. Piper, Who's Dad has been missing for three days now. And Leo, who has a way with tools and trinkets.

The book is right beside me, screaming for me to read it.
I Give it a 100% for a reason. Riordans Newest book.

Weeks 16-19 of puppyhood, Teenage Rebellion.

Hi, fellow lovers of pork!
Sad and unfortunately, Durga is entering the Teen weeks.
Like teenage humans, teenage dogs go looking for trouble, and they find it, they never fail.
Durga's new hobby is hurling herself on the couch, and you NEVER let her loose in Bed Bath and beyond, She's a champion linen stealer and president of the digging society.

And when we tell her to get off of the couch, She gets off reluctantly, then breaks into songs of barking.

We still love her but, "Whew!"

Crazy Adventure!!

Yesterday our friends invited us to go hiking at Tunica Falls.

http://www.letsgowalkinms.com/clark-creek-natural-area-hiking-trail.html

At first I really struggled. There were high walls and logs that I needed
to go over where the "I can't's" started rolling in.

As we got to the third waterfall it started to rain.
We thought there was no way out, we were wrong.

Our puppy Durga came with us on the hike.

We went up a VERY slippery slope.
All of the hills and cliffs were made of clay, and what happens to clay when it's wet?
After we got up the cliff ( Witch was not a marked place ) we miraculously found a dirt road trail called "The Primitive trail" Primitive trail is right!! the only way I could of known we were on a trail is because of the occasional white blotch on a tree.
We were lost for about two hours.
Finally we found a map!
But it said that the parking lot was literally across the whole forest, and we were walking in the wrong direction.
We had to go down that slippery cliff again, and it had been raining.
Then the "I can's" started rolling in.
We got down the slope safely.
We did a lot more walking to get out.
Then we got home to a bath and some Mac'n cheese!
The End
